Windows introduced a couple of fixes (???), and I use the term loosely, that can adversely affect older hardware and software running on XP. In the case of the JamCam, photos begin to download but before the operation is complete an error message indicating a downloading/driver problem will be displayed. This occurs because JamCam is older technology and the little yellow bar that usually appears asking permission to download a file does not become present.
The most common solution to this problem is to turn off the Windows Pop-up Ad Blocker and try another download. Usually this will solve the download problem but under extreme circumstances it may be required to set the system settings to LOW security and to temporarily turn off any anti-virus programs and/or the Windows Security Files off/on. First, try downloading with a low security setting and with the anti-virus program off. In this doesn't work, go to the WEB LINKS page on this site, click on JAMCAM WEBSITES and click on TURNING THE XP SP2 (SP3) AUTOMATIC DOWNLOADS PROMPT ON OR OFF link. Then, leave your security settings on low, the anti-virus program off and try a download. If successful, upgrade the JamCam drivers again and turn the anti-virus program and Windows Security features back on.
ALL WINDOWS OPERATING SYSTEMS
Some third party anti-virus programs (eg. Norton Anti-virus/McCaffee) will deny access to pages on the JamCam site by treating the page links as pop-up ads. If this occurs turn off the Anti-virus program and try a download. If this solution works, upgrade the drivers again and turn the Anti-virus program back on.
WINDOWS XP running SP2/SP3 Service Packs
Some Windows XP operating systems that have the Windows Service Pack 2 or the Windows Service Pack 3 options installed may also require the temporary disabling of both the SP2/SP3 enhanced security file download option and the pop-up ad blocker option if any program files are to be downloaded (most don't).
