Ubisoft has announced the Riders Republic release date as part of Ubisoft Forward at E3 2021. The open-world sports game will release on September 2.
The announcement came at the end of a deep-dive trailer that went into detail on many of the things players can expect from Riders Republic. Of particular note is the world map, which looks very similar to Forza Horizon’s, suggesting a similar playground feel to the game. That open world will contain multiple environment styles – from snowy mountains to arid dirt tracks – perfect for a variety of sports such as off-road mountain biking and snowboarding.
The map is also home to Riders Ridge, a hub area where players can meet other riders, manage their career, find new customization items in the shop, share their in-game creations, and quickly matchmake into free-for-all or Trick Battle multiplayer matches.
A Trick Battle match was briefly shown, which is a 6v6 game mode in which players must capture ‘modules’ on a map; essentially different environment elements like rails and jump ramps. By doing a trick on them, the colour will change from red to blue and capture that module for your team. Capture an entire site’s worth of modules, and you’ll activate a multiplier to increase your team’s score.
Also shown off were tastes of the larger scale activities, such as the wingsuit races and mountain bike trials. Along the way, you can also stop at landmarks for Assassin’s Creed-like synchronizations.
Before the September 2 release date arrives, Ubisoft will hold betas for Riders Republic. Interested players can register at the Riders Republic website.
