The JamCam 3.0 Digital Camera

The JamCam is a simple, inexpensive, tough and fun digital camera. The camera was made by KBGear and was sold through both various outlets including many flea markets and computer stores. The retail cost was about US$90.00 but many of the cameras were sold for around US$40.00 and below. The original JamCam, introduced in 1998, sold for $99 and could only capture images in resolutions of 240 by 480 pixels.

The JamCan unit can produce images suitable for sharing online or printing for personal use. The camera stores as many as 48 images in low-resolution mode (240 by 180), as many as 24 pictures in medium resolution (320 by 240), or up to 8 in high resolution (640 by 480). The JamCam stores images in internal memory and transfers them over USB or serial port connections

The JamCam orginally included Microsoft Picture It 99 to edit photos, add special effects, and create personalized cards and calendars. Also bundled was ArcSoft PhotoFantasy, which let you create "photo fantasies" by combining personal photos with a selection of some 200 creative backgrounds.

Many of the JamCam digital cameras exist and can still be found being auctioned for very affordable prices on eBay. These JamCams have been and still are a great entry level digital camera!

Three models of the JamCam digital camera were offered.

JamCam V1.0 - 320 x 240 pixels
JamCam V2.0 - 640 x 480 pixels
JamCam V3.0 - 640 x 480 pixels with a slot for flash memory and electronic flash.

Here are the specs for the JamCam 3.0.

10 Ways to Make Money with your Digital Camera

JamCam News1. Real Estate - Photograph homes as a paid service to realtors in your area. Since most newspapers and 'home for sale' magazines feature photographs of the homes that are for sale, your services can allow the realtors to spend more time earning their living instead of taking pictures. Also, with the popularity of the internet, most real estate agencies have websites with featured homes or searchable listings. These websites usually need good photographs as well.

2. Amateur sporting events - elementary, junior high, or high school sporting events offer a great opportunity for taking photographs of peoples kids in action. By getting good shots of their kids, you'll be able to offer great photographs to proud parents who don't own cameras, or forgot to bring them, or didn't have the great shots that you got.

Factors for Purchasing the Right Wireless Spy Camera

JamCam NewsWireless spy cameras let you easily see whatever you want to see and finally at an affordable price!

You can now get the evidence you want with sophisticated, super small spy cameras. From cheating spouse to the nanny and children, a spy cam can see it all.

How It Works The camera captures what is in the field of view and transmits the video footage over radio frequencies. The video is then picked up by a receiver that can be hooked up to a TV for viewing, or to a VCR for recording.

4 Tips for Taking Great Baby Pictures

JamCam NewsWhen my daughter Layla was born I had a hard time putting the camera down. And apparently I wasn't the only one. The cashier at the photo developing shop told me that new parents comprised a fairly sizable chunk of their business.

We can't help it! Babies are such beautiful creatures that you want to capture every new movement and every fleeting smile that comes along. (Even if that smile is attached to a smelly gas bubble!)

Runming Older Programs on Windows XP

JamCam Newschante writes "Most programs run properly on Windows XP. The exceptions are some older games and other programs that were written specifically for an earlier version of Windows. These programs may run poorly or not at all after you first upgrade to Windows XP. You may have heard this referred to as application compatibility issues or program compatibility issues. "

The Beginners buyer's guide to digital cameras

JamCam NewsThe Ins and Outs of Megapixels.

The most important part of buying a digital camera is making sure that
the one you select meets all of your needs.

Digital Camera 101

Better digital cameras uses a chip called a "Charged Coupled Device" (CCD) instead of film. Light enters the camera, through the open shutter, and strikes the CCD where it is converted to digital data before being stored in the camera's memory.
